#'''Read about peer review''' - before you do anything else this week read about the [[Peer Review|peer review process]] in Physiopedia. Be sure that you understand the different roles of quality assessors, peer reviewers and topic experts.
== Introduction ==
#'''Familiarise yourself with our quality standards''' - also make sure that you have read the [[Quality Standards|Quality Standards document]] so that you are aware of the quality that we expect in all Physiopedia pages.<br>

== Task 2: Quality assessing pages ==

You are now going to quality assess and improve 3 Physiopedia pages to meet our [[Quality Standards|quality standards]].
In the final week you are going to create a new page in Physiopedia and reflect upon this experience. &nbsp;

#'''Choose any three pages''' in Physiopedia to assess.
== Task 1: Read About What Makes a Good Page in Physiopedia ==
#'''Perform your quality assessment''' - follow the instructions on the [[Quality Assessor]] page to complete your assessment and make improvements as required.
We try to follow certain standards for a Physiopedia page and we expect you, as a volunteer, to know what they are and edit pages to comply with these standards. Please read the following to understand what we are looking for in a Physiopedia page:
* Remind yourself of the [[Quality Standards]] (make sure to read all the links on this page!)
* Revisit this page from last week [[What makes a good Physiopedia page]]

== Task 3: Peer reviewing pages ==
== Task 2: Creating a New Page in Physiopedia ==

Peer reviewing pages is a major part of assuring the quality of the pages in Physiopedia.
Creating new pages in Physiopedia can initially be a daunting task, but once you have done one it becomes much easier the next time! Check out this quick video before reading the detailed instructions below:&nbsp;

When completing a peer review your aim is not to criticise the work of others, it is to constructively provide feedback so that the page can be improved.
{{#ev:youtube|l8v_BXJKT-o}}

#'''First, read the [[Peer Review|Peer Review page]] in Physiopedia.'''
The page that you create can be on any topic that doesn’t already exist in Physiopedia. It can be in any clinical area (there is a lot of space for contributions outside the musculoskeletal/orthopaedics area i.e. respiratory, neurology, paediatrics, etc) or even add to our resources (e.g. an outcome measure or clinical guideline) or '''if you want to keep it simple just choose an anatomy page such as a joint, muscle, ligament or nerve!'''
#'''Choose a page to peer review - '''go to the [https://www.facebook.com/groups/physiopediavolunteers/ Facebook Group] and'''&nbsp;'''choose a page that one of your fellow participants created on the course last week.
#'''Do your peer review''' - using the Review Questions on the [[Template:Peer Review Pages|Peer Review template]] perform your review.
#'''Add your review'''&nbsp;- every page in Physiopedia has an associate 'Talk' page which you can access by clicking on the Discussion tab of that page. &nbsp;This is where you should add your review. To add your review:
#*click the Discussion tab
#*click the + tab
#*add "Peer Review" in the title box
#*add your review below
#*add your signature by typing <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki>&nbsp;or clicking on the signature icon in the editing toolbar (next to [C] on right!).
#*click save<br>

== Task 4: Improving your own work ==
Think about [[what makes a good Physiopedia page]]. &nbsp;It should have clearly written evidence-based (i.e. referenced) content that is relevant to our clinical practice. Links, images, videos (where relevant) all add to the page. One thing that makes our Physiopedia pages stand out from other websites (like Wikipedia) is that they are clinically relevant. &nbsp;Be sure to&nbsp;highlight the importance of physiotherapy techniques and methods, with videos where possible.

Now that you have quality assessed and peer reviewed some pages in Physiopedia consider how you might improve your own page that you created last week.
#'''Choose a topic''' - first, you must choose a page to create. &nbsp;Choose a topic that interests you and/or is relevant to your current practice.&nbsp;If you are struggling to come up with a topic choose an anatomy page to add to the [[:Category:Anatomy|anatomy category]].
#'''Search''' - &nbsp;now you should check that this page doesn’t already exist within Physiopedia. Use the ‘search’ box to check what is already available. Make sure that you search using all the terms that might refer to the topic that you have chosen, for example for tendinopathy you should search for: &nbsp;tendinopathy, tendinosis, tendinitis, etc. &nbsp;If the topic that you have chosen already exists, please choose another topic!
#'''Create Page''' - go to this page - [http://www.physio-pedia.com/Create_new_page Creating New Page] - to create a new page.
#'''Add a Template '''- once you have created your new page you should add a Template to your page. [[Templates#Article_Templates|You can see a list of Templates here]], at least, you should add the New Page template. When you have chosen the template you wish to use follow these [[Adding Templates|Adding Templates]] instructions.
#'''Edit the Page''' - once your template has been added you can make edits to the page to add content. You are welcome to change any sub-headings or create new ones as you feel is appropriate. &nbsp;Your page doesn't have to be long, as long as the content on the page gives enough appropriate information on the topic it'll be good! &nbsp;
#'''References''' - the content that you add to the page should be supported by evidence where appropriate. Please make sure that you use the referencing functionality correctly. See the [[Adding References|Adding References]] tutorial for help. &nbsp;You don't need to add lots of references, just a few to demonstrate that you know how to do it!
#'''Add Media''' - all pages are enhanced by the addition of images and/or video. You should add a video and an image to your page. See the [http://www.physio-pedia.com/Adding_images Adding Images Tutorial]&nbsp;and the [http://www.physio-pedia.com/Adding_video Adding Videos Tutorial].
#'''Add Categories''' - make sure that you categorise the page.  See the [[Tagging pages with a Category|Adding Categories]] tutorial.  You can see a [[Special:Categories|list of categories]] here.
#'''Finally, add your name as the original editor''' - it is important to credit the people that contributed to the Physiopedia content.  See [[Adding Editors]] tutorial.

#'''Reflect on the week so far''' - consider what you learnt in the first 3 tasks this week.
We understand that this task may take some time as you will need to get to grips with all the editing tasks involved in creating a new page. However, completing this task will start you on the road to becoming a skilled and confident editor of Physiopedia and give you a great set of skills for your future volunteer roles.
#'''Look at the Talk page of your page''' that you created last week to see if anyone has provided you with feedback.
#'''Improve your page''' - consider points 1 and 2 and make improvements to your page as you feel is appropriate.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

In the final week you are going to create a new page in Physiopedia and reflect upon this experience.

Task 1: Read About What Makes a Good Page in Physiopedia[edit | edit source]

We try to follow certain standards for a Physiopedia page and we expect you, as a volunteer, to know what they are and edit pages to comply with these standards. Please read the following to understand what we are looking for in a Physiopedia page:

Task 2: Creating a New Page in Physiopedia[edit | edit source]

Creating new pages in Physiopedia can initially be a daunting task, but once you have done one it becomes much easier the next time! Check out this quick video before reading the detailed instructions below:

The page that you create can be on any topic that doesn’t already exist in Physiopedia. It can be in any clinical area (there is a lot of space for contributions outside the musculoskeletal/orthopaedics area i.e. respiratory, neurology, paediatrics, etc) or even add to our resources (e.g. an outcome measure or clinical guideline) or if you want to keep it simple just choose an anatomy page such as a joint, muscle, ligament or nerve!

Think about what makes a good Physiopedia page.  It should have clearly written evidence-based (i.e. referenced) content that is relevant to our clinical practice. Links, images, videos (where relevant) all add to the page. One thing that makes our Physiopedia pages stand out from other websites (like Wikipedia) is that they are clinically relevant.  Be sure to highlight the importance of physiotherapy techniques and methods, with videos where possible.

  1. Choose a topic - first, you must choose a page to create.  Choose a topic that interests you and/or is relevant to your current practice. If you are struggling to come up with a topic choose an anatomy page to add to the anatomy category.
  2. Search -  now you should check that this page doesn’t already exist within Physiopedia. Use the ‘search’ box to check what is already available. Make sure that you search using all the terms that might refer to the topic that you have chosen, for example for tendinopathy you should search for:  tendinopathy, tendinosis, tendinitis, etc.  If the topic that you have chosen already exists, please choose another topic!
  3. Create Page - go to this page - Creating New Page - to create a new page.
  4. Add a Template - once you have created your new page you should add a Template to your page. You can see a list of Templates here, at least, you should add the New Page template. When you have chosen the template you wish to use follow these Adding Templates instructions.
  5. Edit the Page - once your template has been added you can make edits to the page to add content. You are welcome to change any sub-headings or create new ones as you feel is appropriate.  Your page doesn't have to be long, as long as the content on the page gives enough appropriate information on the topic it'll be good!
  6. References - the content that you add to the page should be supported by evidence where appropriate. Please make sure that you use the referencing functionality correctly. See the Adding References tutorial for help.  You don't need to add lots of references, just a few to demonstrate that you know how to do it!
  7. Add Media - all pages are enhanced by the addition of images and/or video. You should add a video and an image to your page. See the Adding Images Tutorial and the Adding Videos Tutorial.
  8. Add Categories - make sure that you categorise the page. See the Adding Categories tutorial. You can see a list of categories here.
  9. Finally, add your name as the original editor - it is important to credit the people that contributed to the Physiopedia content. See Adding Editors tutorial.

We understand that this task may take some time as you will need to get to grips with all the editing tasks involved in creating a new page. However, completing this task will start you on the road to becoming a skilled and confident editor of Physiopedia and give you a great set of skills for your future volunteer roles.

If you have questions ask in the #general channel

Task 3: Discussion [edit | edit source]

Go to Slack for all online discussions. Please post your discussions in the relevant discussion channel that will be set up for you. Look under the channels for each specific discussion:

  1. In the #general channel - use this channel to help each other out, it's all about teamwork!  Getting used to editing pages and creating content in Physiopedia is tricky; we have all been through the process and will be able to answer your questions however big or small. Don't be afraid to ask!
  2. Share a link to your new page in Slack in the #w3d1 channel
  3. Share your thoughts on the page creation process - how did you find this process, what could we do to improve it, are you becoming more confident to edit Physiopedia? Do this in the #w3d2 channel in Slack
  4. Don't forget to proudly share your new page on social media #TeamPP!

Task 4: Complete Your Activity Report[edit | edit source]

Once you have completed all the tasks this week you need to submit your Activity Report to complete the course. We will know that you have completed the course when you make this submission. We will assess your contributions throughout the course and get back to you with either our recommendations or your graduation details.

On graduation, you will be awarded a CPD certificate and your Yellow Belt badge!

Congratulations, you have completed the Volunteer Orientation Course!!
