Introduction
Physiopedia is the largest online resource for our profession in the world. It is a community-created resource and relies on physiotherapy and other rehabilitation professionals all over the world to create, review, and update content. A major part of this process is undertaken by our volunteer editorial team whose role is to oversee the maintenance and development of the Physiopedia content. All members of this team are graduates of our Physiopedia Editor Onboarding Programme.
You can join the Physiopedia Editor Onboarding Programme at anytime throughout the year, following registering your interest and successfully passing our pre-screen process which ensures alignment with Physiopedia goals and role expectations. Details of this process will be sent to registered participants.
Course Aim
The aim of this Physiopedia Editor Onboarding Programme is to prepare individuals to be a part of the Physiopedia editorial team.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course you will:
- Be familiar with the many varied aspects of Physiopedia.
- Be confident to edit Physiopedia.
- Be familiar with the Physiopedia quality standards.
- Develop key professional skills such as digital skills and online professionalism.
- Be motivated to actively engage with the team, fostering a strong sense of community spirit.
Course Summary
This free course is completely online. This training is expected to be completed within the month from the agreed commencement date. How quickly you progress through this course is completely up to you and will depend on your other commitments during this time. It is created to be flexible, so you can complete it around your other commitments.
You will be given several tasks that you can complete in your own time, that will build on knowledge and skills needed for the editor role. These tasks include the following:
- Quality reviewing our pages
- Editing an existing page
- Creating a new page
- Look at additional readings, videos and resources
- Contribute to the online discussion on our chatting platform, Slack
You will also be actively encouraged to share your course activities and reflections through your own social media platforms.
The overall training to become a fully fledged Physiopedia editor compromises of 5 stages:

| Entry | Receive all relevant links to training, intros and welcome email. |
| Stage 1 | Complete the onboarding course (via Plus) over a month (getting used to editor navigation and the different systems).
The Physiopedia quality team is at hand during this time to answer any queries and check-in on progress. You will need to complete all 10 sections and 10 tasks to be able to fully complete the training. |
| Stage 2 | Complete final activities, including feedback form, commitment agreement statement and activity report. |
| Stage 3 | Once you have completed the training, you will need to attend a new editor review call run by our quality team covering Q&As, feedback on edits, checking understanding of role.
Once all metrics are satisfied, you have graduated from Physiopedia Editor Onboarding Programme. Here you will gain a CPD certificate for the completed training. |
| Stage 4 | Full team and role integration with directed support (check-ins with buddy and management team). |
| Stage 5 | 3 months after joining - have first appraisal to review progress and quality. |
Course Outline
This course is made up of videos, reading and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:

- Section 4: Reviewing Content
- Section 5: Introduction to Editing
- Section 6: Diving Deeper into Editing
- Section 7: Using AI to assist editing
- Section 8: Creating a Physiopedia Page
- Section 9: Being a Physiopedia editor
- Section 10: Taking the Next Step
Course Requirements
This course can be completed over a period of a month from commencement. There is no specific time or place that you need to attend, you can do the course in your own time at a time and location that suits you. In order to complete this course and receive a course completion certificate, official Physiopedia editor badge plus CEUs/CCUs/CPD points, you will need to:
- Respect the Physiopedia Community Culture
- Actively and appropriately participate in the course activities
- Submit activities into the Slack chat for feedback
- Submit your final activity report along with the commitment agreement statement
- Complete a course feedback form
Accreditation, Assessment and Certification
Successful completion of this course is dependant upon completion of all relevant activities, meeting the quality standards and instructions from the programme co-ordinators. Failure to meet our standards our respect our online community may result in your being removed from the programme. On the successful completion of this course (assessed by the course co-ordinators), each participant will be provided with a certificate of completion from Physiopedia, plus a Physiopedia Editor badge. You will then join the official team and enter the points rewards programme.
Participant Requirements
This course is suitable for any rehabilitation professional, including but not limited to physiotherapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, prosthetists and orthotists, who would like to contribute to Physiopedia as a part of the official volunteer editor team.
Participants on this course must be:
- A rehabilitation professional. This includes students, graduates, clinicians, educators, or researchers.
- Intending to take on a volunteer role within Physiopedia on completion of the course.
- Committed to making monthly contributions to Physiopedia.
- Willing to make edits to the Physiopedia website.
- Motivated to build community spirit by engaging with the team in Slack and attending optional planned sessions.
- Interested in joining the Physiopedia monthly huddle to stay connected with the team.
Course Co-ordinators
During this course, you will be personally mentored by the Quality Assurance Manager and Content Manager of Physiopedia and other members of the volunteer Editor team.
If you have any questions about this training programme at any point, you will be added to a dedicated Slack group, which we encourage you to use to seek support. We would prefer that you let us know about problems or difficulties that you have encountered so that we can amend the training or create help videos and provide feedback and training where appropriate.
