About Me
I'm Vidya V Acharya from Mumbai, India, and I have a Master's degree in Neuro-physiotherapy. I began my clinical career in pediatric neurotherapy and then pursued masters with the speciality in adult neurophysiotherapy. My experience includes working in neuro-rehabilitation units at leading hospitals in Mumbai and serving as an assistant lecturer at a physiotherapy institute. During my master's program, I was awarded the second-best paper in the junior category at a national conference for my thesis on the effect of mental practice on standing balance in elderly populations. This research came from my curiosity about motor learning and its influence on movement, a fascination that still drives me. After relocating overseas, I shifted my clinical expertise to digital health education and content leadership.
I joined the Volunteer Content Team in April 2018. Initially, my responsibilities included creating, reviewing, and updating pages. I was in charge of updating the Physiopedia pages with latest reseach from the Latest Specialities newsletter, Physiospot-research articles and recent literature related to the Topic of the Month. Over time, my role at Physiopedia has evolved. I progressed from creating and reviewing content to becoming the Assistant Content Manager for Volunteer Engagement, and I now serve as the Content Manager. In this position, I assist the Quality Assurance Manager, manage the volunteer team, and oversee content quality and standards across the platform.
Nature and music are the two things I enjoy the most. I love playing the piano and taking walks every evening to watch the sunset. Aside from that, I enjoy educating those around me and in my community about the importance of movement in maintaining mobility and health. I've written articles about it.
