 The cervical spine is an area in which stability has been sacrificed for mobility.  Sitting between the heavy head and the stable thoricaic spine and ribs this makes the cervical spine vunerable to injury.  It is divided into two areas - the upper cervical spine (C0-C1) and the lower cervical spine (C2-C7).
