Introduction[edit | edit source]

The right to health is embodied in numerous human rights instruments. Despite this, migrants are often met with restrictive access to health services. This is particularly a problem for migrants without resident permits, but there is also a challenge getting access to health services which one is entitled to. There are possible barriers all the way from identifying a health problem to get proper service. Such barriers could be information and health understanding, economic challenges, communication and biases from health care professionals. It is important to be aware that these barriers do not occur in isolation, but that they often are multifactorial and clustered. This makes it even harder because there are so many new barriers and challenges when one is solved.
