About Me[edit | edit source]
My name is Scott and I am a First Class (Hons) Physiotherapy graduate from Coventry University in 2013. I have had an interest in physiotherapy for a long time now and I hope my passion and drive for the profession comes across to my patients and colleagues. Currently I am working at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, UK in the Outpatient Department, previously I was working at St Mary's hospital on the Isle of Wight on a Rehabilitation ward and also a Stroke ward.
I would say my key strength are communicating and building strong, working relationships with patients and I really enjoy the opportunity of testing my clinical reasoning ability during complex clinical scenarios. A personal interest of mine is with the psychological management of patients and social interaction and how this influences patient response to prognosis, symptom management and response to treatments.
As I am a keen runner and cyclist I have a deep interest with sports injuries and treatment especially in longer distance events and chronic injuries. Although I have not been exposed to many situations clinically, I enjoy reading around this topic area in my spare time.
During my training I have had placements in all of the core competencies of musculoskeletal outpatients, adult intensive care and neuro inpatient rehabilitation as well as renal medicine and burns and plastics with hand therapy outpatients. These placements led me across different trusts and the opportunity to be mentored by some of the most talented and specialist physiotherapists in the country.
In the future I hope to develop my key clinical skills in a rotational post in a large teaching hospital and gain as much experience in as many different areas as possible as I am unsure which direction I want to take my career in the future.
