Adductor pollicis muscle lies deep to thenar muscles and it has two heads, Oblique head and the transverse head [1]
Origin[edit | edit source]
- Oblique head originates from bases of 2nd-3rd metacarpals
- Transverse head originates from shaft of 3rd metacarpal [1]
Insertion[edit | edit source]
Base of proximal phalanx of thumb on its medial aspect [1]
Nerve[edit | edit source]
Deep branch of ulnar nerve. It ends in this muscle [1][2]
Artery[edit | edit source]
Deep palmar arch
Main trunk of the radial artery passes into the palm between the oblique and transverse heads of the adductor pollicis to form the deep palmar arch[1] [2]
