Objective[edit | edit source]

The SAQ was formulated to gauge the quality of life of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) in terms of their disease. It was created with younger patients in mind as it relies more on visual cues than verbal inquiries. The SAQ employs standardized drawings and questions to evaluate how patients and their parents perceive the appearance of their spinal deformity.
