Movement of vertebra when performing unilateral PAs. Skin is on the left of the images. the dark bulge in each image is the transverse process. Left shows when the PA is performed with just the thumbs. Note the trajectory is more horizontal than vertical. Right image shows when the contralateral side is supported and controlled by the therapist's finger. Note the trajectory is more vertical and that there is a reduction of the soft tissue deformation during the technique.
