Purpose
Box Drill Fitness Test, also known as 4 Cone Test, is used to assess agility among athletes of team sports such as basketball, hockey, rugby, soccer. It was one of the battery tests for NFL Combine before being replaced by th3 3-Cone Drill.
Technique

Equipment: stopwatch, measuring tape, 4 cones
Testing area set up: Four cones are placed 10 yards apart, forming a square
Instructions:
- The player assumes a three-point stance next to Cone 1. The player must go around the outside of each cone.
- Cone 1 to cone 2: sprint
- Cone 2 to cone 3: shuffle sideways
- Cone 3 to cone 4: back-pedal
- Cone 4 to Cone 1: sprint
Evidence
In conjunction with other agility tests, Box Drill Fitness Test is a valid and reliable tool in assessing agility.[2] [3]
