Once you have decided to use Physiopedia in your class you should follow this step by step guide to get you started.

Get your own Physiopedia account[edit | edit source]

  1. Sign up for a Physiopedia account for yourself by pressing the request account tab in the left sidebar.  We suggest that your username is your full name.
  2. When you request your account inform us that you wish to use Physiopedia in your teaching.
  3. Wait for email confirmation that your account has been activated.
  4. Once your account has been activated have a go at editing a page yourself.  It is best to start by editing your profile page to give yourself a presence in Physiopedia.  See our user tutorials on editing pages and editing your profile.

Get your students a Physiopedia account[edit | edit source]

  1. Get your students to sign up for a Physiopedia account by requesting an account as you did.  Again it is best that they use their full name for their username as you will need to keep a record of all their usernames so that you can track their contributions.
  2. When they request their account they should inform us that they are working in Physiopedia under your instruction.
  3. They then need to wait for their email confirmation of account activation.
  4. Once their account has been activated you should instruct them to have a go at editing a page.  Again it is best to start by editing their profile page.  Direct them at our user tutorials on editing pages and editing your profile.

Instruct your students what to do in Physiopedia[edit | edit source]

  1. You will need to provide your students with tasks to complete in Physiopedia. You can be as creative as you like with this, see our Educators Application Examples for ideas.
  2. You should set a time frame for the students to complete the task.
  3. It is also useful to create learning outcomes for the students related to the task that you set them.

Follow your students progress[edit | edit source]

You can follow your students contributions and progress in a number of ways:

  1. Each Physiopedia page has a History tab where you can view how various users have contributed on a specific page.
  2. You can flag pages your students are working on by using the Watch tab at the top of each page. The pages that you are 'watching' can be followed by going to My watchlist under the personal tools tab in the left sidebar.
  3. You can also track individual user contributions by visiting their profile page and clicking on User contributions under the toolbox tab at the bottom of the left sidebar. To find a persons profile page you should type their name into the search box at the top of any page, the resulting page should identify the persons profile page which is named User:Persons Name, click on this.

Provide feedback to your students[edit | edit source]

You should provide feedback to your students on their contributions. You can do this in a number of ways.

  1. You can provide feedback to your students in the Discussion tab on the page that they are working on or on their profile page.  This feedback will be public.
  2. Alternatively you can provide private feedback.  This can be done by using clicking on email this user under the toolbox tab in the left sidebar of their profile page.

Provide feedback to us[edit | edit source]

We would be grateful if you would provide us with feedback of your experience of using Physiopedia in your teaching.  We will use this feedback to improve Physiopedia as a teaching and learning tool for educators.  You can provide us feedback by email or by adding feedback to our Educators Feedback page.
