Introduction[edit | edit source]

This week you are going to review pages in Physiopedia, make improvements to these pages and reflect upon this experience.  It's quite a full on week so be sure that you put aside enough time to complete the tasks!

We understand that reviewing and editing other peoples work can be a difficult task but this is how we ensure that Physiopedia is constantly improving and being updated.  Completing the tasks will help to make you a skilled and confident peer reviewer of Physiopedia and give you a great set of skills for your future volunteer roles.

Task 1: Read about peer review[edit | edit source]

  1. Read about peer review - before you do anything else this week read about the peer review process in Physiopedia. Be sure that you understand the different roles of quality assessors, peer reviewers and topic experts.
  2. Familiarise yourself with our quality standards - also make sure that you have read the Quality Standards document so that you are aware of the quality that we expect in all Physiopedia pages.

Task 2: Quality assessing pages[edit | edit source]

You are now going to quality assess and improve 3 Physiopedia pages to meet our quality standards.

  1. Choose any three pages in Physiopedia to assess.
  2. Perform your quality assessment - follow the instructions on the Quality Assessor page to complete your assessment and make improvements as required.

Task 3: Peer reviewing pages[edit | edit source]

Peer reviewing pages is a major part of assuring the quality of the pages in Physiopedia.

When completing a peer review your aim is not to criticise the work of others, it is to constructively provide feedback so that the page can be improved.

  1. First, read the Peer Review page in Physiopedia.
  2. Choose a page to peer review - go to the Facebook Group and choose a page that one of your fellow participants created on the course last week.
  3. Do your peer review - using the Review Questions on the Peer Review template perform your review.
  4. Add your review - every page in Physiopedia has an associate 'Talk' page which you can access by clicking on the Discussion tab of that page.  This is wherew you should add your review. To add your review:
    • click the Discussion tab
    • click the + tab
    • add "Peer Review" in the title box
    • add your review below
    • add your signature by typing ~~~~~ or clicking on the signature icon in the editing toolbar (next to [C] on right!).
    • click save

Task 4: Improving your own work[edit | edit source]

Now that you have quality assessed and peer reviewed some pages in Physiopedia consider how you might improve your own page that you created last week.

  1. Reflect on the week so far - consider what you learnt in the first 3 tasks this week.
  2. Look at the Talk page of your page that you created last week to see if anyone has provided you with feedback.
  3. Improve your page - consider points 1 and 2 and make improvements to your page as you feel is appropriate.

Task 5: Discussion [edit | edit source]

Go to the Facebook group for all online discussions.

Share links to the 3 pages that you quality assessed and reflect on your experience of this task  - how did you find this process, what could we do to improve it, are you becoming more confident to edit Physiopedia etc.

  1. Share your thoughts on our peer review process - can we make any improvements to our quality standards documents, does the quality assessing process make sense, what can we do to improve the peer review, how can we engage more people in the peer review process etc?

Please post your discussions in the relevant discussion thread that will be set up for you.

Feel free to start your own discussion thread as well, especially if you are after some help!
