Abductor digiti minimi[1]

It is a small muscle situated on the ulnar border of the hand forming the hypothenar eminence

Origin[edit | edit source]

Pisiform and tendon of flexor carpi ulnaris, pisohamate ligament

Insertion[edit | edit source]

Ulnar side of base of proximal phalanx of little finger

Nerve[edit | edit source]

Ulnar nerve (C8, T1)

Artery[edit | edit source]

Ulnar artery

Function[edit | edit source]

Abucts the little finger(5th)

Assessment[edit | edit source]

Patients forearm in supination, wrist in neutral and instruct the patient to spread his/her fingers. hold them and don't allow to open up
