This project is part of the elective course Developing Leadership in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Des Moines University. Students will work in groups to choose a topic on which to create a new Physiopedia article or update an existing article reflecting current best evidence on a topic related to Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.

Instructions to Students[edit | edit source]

  1. Explore Physiopedia - Spend some time exploring the Physiopedia website.  Look through all the links in the navigation bar on the left side of this page.  Have a look at some of the great information in the Content section and find the User Tutorials as they will be of great help to you during the course of this project.
  2. Request an Account - To edit Physiopedia you need to have a Physiopedia account.  You can request an account here.  Once you have requested your account you will be sent an email where you will be asked to confirm your email address.  Once you have done this your account request will be assessed and activated. This precess may take up to 48 hours.
  3. Login to Physiopedia - Once your account has been activated you will be sent an email with your login details and a link to your Profile page.  When you login you will see that some new tabs appear in the top right of the page that allow you to Edit, Watch and Create pages as well as look at their History.  Take a look through these new options that you have: Clicking on the Edit tab is how you can make contributions to the site.  
  4. Create Your Profile - You should spend some time to create a user profile.
  5. Select Your Topic - Select a topic and submit to course coordinator for approval.
  6. Find the Evidence - Search for, appraise, and synthesize research evidence on the topic.
  7. Submit Your Plan - Submit an outline of the planned content to the course dropbox for peer review and schedule to meet with the course coordinator for discussion.
  8. Develop You Page - Develop a wiki page (consider including hyperlinks to other webpages, links to abstracts of published research, images and videos).
