Goniometry: Forearm Supination
Anatomical Movement[edit | edit source]
Forearm supination
Testing position[edit | edit source]
Patient is seated with the shoulder adducted by their side, elbow flexed to 90 degrees and forearm in the neutral position to start.
A simple trick is to have the patient hold a pen or pencil for ease of measurement.
Goniometer Placement[edit | edit source]
AXIS LOCATION | STATIONARY ARM | MOVEMENT ARM |
---|---|---|
over tip of 3rd digit | parallel with the humerus | parallel to volar forearm surface |
Expected Findings[edit | edit source]
Expected range of motion is 80 - 90 degrees[1]
