Discussion & Background

The purpose of this clinical guideline is to describe the evidence based physical therapy practice including diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and assessment ofoutcome for musculoskeletal disorders related to neck pain that are commonly managed with orthopaedic physical therapy techniques.
More specifically, in the paragraphs that follow, there will be a review of the levels and grades of evidence associated with different treatments in the management of neck pain, diagnosis based on impairments and functional limitations, and recommendations for treatment based on levels of current evidence.
