I qualified as a physiotherapist from Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2016. Physiotherapy is changing, the emergence of treatment alternatives is already impacting the medical sector, I’m curious around how this will impact our role as Physiotherapists. More specifically, I see Physiopaedia as providing an optimal global platform to discuss these changes. During my last year of University, I was placed in Waikato hospital, working in the neurosurgical wards, ICU/HDU, Older Persons Rehabilitation and stroke wards. Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, I’ve been working in a private practice, which has involved working in the clinic, with sports teams and in school clinics. I’m a member of Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ) and as part of my continuous professional development, I gained a post graduate level Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy with NZMPA (New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association). Within the framework of this course, collaborating with established physiotherapists has allowed me to appreciate, diagnose and manage patient musculoskeletal disorders.
