What’s the Protectometer[edit | edit source]

The Protectometer is a tool developed by Lorrimer Moseley and David Butler for use by clinicians and patients in helping to understand what causes an individuals’ experience of pain (EPS ch , EPP).

It is one of the tools used in the Explain Pain approach to pain management. This approach uses as number of educational interventions to help pts and clinicians manage pain ( article, book)

How does this relate to pathophysiology?[edit | edit source]

DIMs and SINs are hypothesised by L and G to be represented by neurotags in the brain, that is .... (Article full EPS p., other article pain)

They propose that these can be modified and changed, to change the perception of pain,  by using the EP approach.

What’s the evidence?[edit | edit source]

There is growing evidence of this approach in a number of subgroups such as ........( article) with research ongoing. This includes the sue of the Protectometer.
