Physiopedia ran it's first open online course in collaboration with the University of Western Cape, South Africa in summer 2013. This Professional Ethics Course was a great success and a very workable model for running more open online courses within Physiopedia.
About Open Online Courses[edit | edit source]
Open online courses are courses running purely in an online environement that have been opened up for anyone to participate in. They are often referred to as MOOCS - massive open online courses - as they can generate huge participation. However, mOOCS - mini open online courses - are just as valuable and in some cases the learning experience can be better.
These open online courses are run and facilitated by acredited educational establishments such as universities and colleges. They are either created specifically or they are existing modules that are placed in an online environemnt and opened up for anyone to attend.
