Dr Jenny Setchell is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Queensland, Australia. Her research focusses on socio-cultural aspects of physiotherapy (and other health realms). In the last 5 years, Setchell has been invited to present at numerous international conferences, produced over 40 publications, and received numerous prizes and awards for her research. She also has 20 years’ diverse clinical physiotherapy experience principally in the musculoskeletal and sports disciplines.
Setchell is Director of SocioHealthLab an interdisciplinary group of researchers with a shared interest in applied sociology, and the use of social theory to think differently about health and healthcare. Setchell is also co-founder and advisory board member of the Critical Physiotherapy Network and led development of WCPT’s policy on Diversity and Inclusion. Her co-edited open source book ‘Manipulating Practices: A Critical Physiotherapy Reader’ has been downloaded over 20K times since publication in 2018. Setchell has also been an acrobat and a human rights worker! She is an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and has AHPRA registration.
