Platysma is a broad thin sheetlike muscle which lies superficially at the anterolateral aspect of neck bilaterally.
Origin[edit | edit source]
Inferioirly, it arises from subcutaneous tissue of the subclavicular and acromial regions.
Insertion[edit | edit source]
the fasciles cross the lateral aspect of the neck obliquely to un upward and medially toward and lower face. Then insert superiorly in the chin in the commissures of them outh in the anterior third of the oblique line of the jaw, then merge ( at the median line) with fibers of the opposite side.

Cervical branch of facial nerve (7th cranial nerve).

Function[edit | edit source]
- aids facial expression by lowering the inferior lip.
