A Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a real passion for clinical reasoning, pain and performance. I took an unorthodox route into Physiotherapy, from mines and demolitions in the Army, to a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) in the Prison Service, with my last 4 years as a PTI spent studying part –time for my Physiotherapy Degree. I achieved a 1st Class Honours Degree, joined the NHS gaining a good grounding before working as Senior MSK Physiotherapist. I completed my MSc in Manual Therapy (MACP) looking to fine-tune my clinical skills and it was during my MSc that pain science and the brain really started to intrigue me. I have been lucky enough to work in Elite Sport, with England Athletics, Boxing, Rugby Union, Triathlon and Football, traveling to World and European Championships. A highlight has to be securing a place as a Physio for London 2012 Olympics, however, in the last few years my passion has turned to Persistent Pain, Neurosicence , CBT and it s influence on pain and performance.I am currently Professional Head of Physiotherapy at Nuffield Health where I am responsible for driving forward our clinical standards and innovation of physiotherapy and musculoskeletal services throughout the UK, whilst providing vision and clinical leadership.
