I am a final year undergraduate physiotherapy student in University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland.

For my final year thesis I studied the effects of whole body vibration on dynamic balance. This project involved 27 healthy university students participating in a 6 week dynamic balance programme (3 days per week) that included variations of squatting, single-leg balance, and plyometric exercises. 12 students completed the exercises on the vibration machine without the vibrations turned off and 15 completed the exercises with the vibrations turned on. Each group significantly improved their dynamic balance at the end of the 6 week period as measured on the star excursion balance test but there was no significant difference between the control and whole body vibration group at the end of the programme.

When finished my degree I hope to specialise in musculoskeletal injury prevention and treatment.
