About Me
[edit | edit source]

I attained my first degree in Zoology in 1979 and my physiotherapy diploma from Aberdeen in 1980. I completed my Masters (in Pain) at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 2005. My dissertation explored the training needs of outpatient physiotherapists for undertaking biopsychosocial assessments. I have worked at the Bristol Hospitals and Exeter and have been a clinical specialist in Pain Management in South Devon for 8 year. In 1999 I was the initiator of a significant service redesign which resulted in rapid screening and referral for patients with concerns or limitations due to ongoing pain. Expert management thereby becoming available within primary care service with easy access to secondary care specialism. I was also the education officer for the Physiotherapy Pain Association for 2 years and am currently endeavoring to develop an endorsement process for post-graduate short courses. My current areas of service development are ensuring a flexible but timely intervention ensuring appropriate ongoing support within the community
