User:Janet Poyser

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1992 at Northumbria University. During the past 18 years I have worked in various hospitals around the Manchester area. Initially in rotational posts and then specialising in older people. Currently I am responsible for a team providing in put to two large acute elderly wards, two rehabilitation wards and a day hospital. I spend one day a week treating out-patients with Parkinson's disease. I have been fortunate enough to be able to attend a wide variety of courses and study days during my career. The most beneficial being the 3 week adult Bobath course, the later life training postural stability instructors course and a diploma in Parkinson's disease care. I am particularly interested in looking at how we can reduce the length of stay on the elderly rehabilitaion wards whilst maintaining a high quality service.
