About Me
[edit | edit source]

I am proud to say, I am currently a Bellarmine Physical Therapy student, class of 2017. I am also a recent graduate from Louisville School of Massage (LSM) looking to take the state boards, earning my license in Massage Therapy.

I first was introduced to physical therapy my sophomore year of high school. I tore my right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of my knee in the first 5 minutes of a soccer game. Without my knowledge my life was about to take an unexpected turn. I had always grown up loving animals and saw myself pursuing the veterinarian profession; That was soon to change.

Following ACL surgery, I went to physical therapy and immediately changed my dream and not once have I second guessed. I was going to be a Physical Therapist. I spent my shadowing hours in multiple physical therapy clinics, but one in particular stood out. Frazier Rehab Jewish Hospital, where spinal cord medicine was starting to become a popular practice here in Louisville. I had a vision in my head of one day working there, and not once did I let myself forget.

I went on to graduate High School which was immediately trailed by entering my freshman year at Bellarmine University. Here I studied Exercise science and earned my Bachelor of Arts with a focus in pre-physical therapy courses. My senior year I was given the opportunity to once again revisit Frazier. This time as an intern within the same, more developed department I saw in High School. As an intern I made it a point to learn everything I could, proving myself within the clinic and eventually earning a full time position.

I had finally obtained my dream job, working at the world renowned Frazier Rehab Jewish Hospital in downtown Louisville. I proudly worked for the Christopher and Dana Reeve foundation as a full time Activities Based Technician II. I was part of the locomotor team assisting and training patients with spinal cord injuries, in hopes to beat the odds of such a life changing injury. Along with this full time position, I attended night classes pursuing an education in Massage Therapy at LSM.

During my time at Frazier, Dr. Andrea Behrman and Ms. Shelley Trimble started the pediatric locomotor program. I was lucky enough to be able to work a long side of them and aid in the growth and development of this program, at Frazier Rehab. I still hold a part time technician position at Frazier, and assist in the acute setting of Jewish Hospital a few weekends out of the month. Working at Frazier was my ultimate dream job but soon realized I had much more to give. With experience under my belt I began to pursue Physical Therapy School once again. Following my acceptance into Bellarmine I find myself with goals set in sight and blazing determination in my eyes to again graduate from Bellarmine; This time with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
