About Me
[edit | edit source]

I have always had an interest in helping people and learning about and promoting good health in a holistic way. I graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from University of Limerick, Ireland, in 2013. I gained a broad base of clinical skills through private practise working with sports and musculosketelal injuries, then in a large maternity hospital where I worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I also worked with newborn babies and this sparked my passion for working with children. I since moved into working with people with disabilities, having worked in the Intellectual Disability sector since 2015 and moving into Physical Disability in 2019. I also run orthotic (insole) clinics in a busy private practise. I have a specific passion in Postural Care, Motor Learning, FEDS (Feeding, Eating, Drinking, Swallowing) and Orthotic Management. I like to learn as much as I can, from as many different people and disciplines as I can and I enjoy teaching students. I believe in a Multi-systems approach to complex problems, and I believe we need to move away from treating the body, i.e. mechanically, in the way one might fix a car, and move towards treating the entire person (looking at neuroplasticity, learning, the impact of beliefs and attitudes of the people I support and of their carers, environment etc).
