Employment History

Physiotherapist: Private Client 02/2014- Present Private family focused Paediatric therapy sessions with children with Developmental Delay below the ages of 7.

My treatment sessions focus on providing children with task specific stimulating activities building on current abilities and working towards future goals as the child develops over the lifetime. Using play-based engagement and somatosensory integration my treatment aims include: skill acquisition of developmental markers, gait education, sequencing & coordination, functional movement & posture. I work with family led goals, write reports, advise on progress, and liaise with all involved specialists & professionals.

Physiotherapist: Croydon University Hospital, Croydon 02/2014-03/2014

A Locum role working in Croydon Integrated Community Services (CICS) CICS works to prevent failed Hospital discharges and avoid unnecessary admission into Hospital. CICS also works following medical or orthopaedic events to rehabilitate patients in the community under guidance of the MDT. Teamwork and lone working were essential in this role as was the ability to work flexibly with a wide patient demographic providing assessments, treatment and rehabilitation plans.

Physiotherapist: Fieldway Care Home, Mitcham 6/2012-12/2013 Private planned physiotherapy sessions with one patient following stroke with complex needs.

My treatment focuses on reducing the impacts of immobility: maintaining range of movement, reducing tone, managing spasticity, preventing contractures, mobalising tissues and joints, improving tissue viability and maintaining bronchial hygiene. As an autonomous practitioner effective communications with all members of care home staff is key along with regular liaison with family members. My aim is to improve quality of life and provide holistic and clinically reasoned care, engaging with all those who have an influence on patient care.


Research Assistant: St Georges University of London 11/2012- 11/2013

Data collection in a multi centre trial looking at self-management following stroke.

My involvement in this complex trial has fine-tuned my organisational skills and strengthened my knowledge with regard to collecting evidence for practice. My work has involved regular data collection sessions with patients in the community throughout the London area. Existing knowledge and skills base were used in order to provide an informed and non-judgmental approach to patients following their strokes using a highly developed interpersonal skill base. Once un-blinded, having completed all participant contacts, I worked on the transcription of interviews.

Hourly paid tutoring as part of the Inter-professional Foundation Program

Writing and presenting sessions on various subject including professionalism and consent as part of the first year medical, radiotherapy and physiotherapy degree program.

Physiotherapist: Royal Free Hospital, London 2012-2013

A temporary role as a Band 5 physiotherapist based in Private Care, Women’s Health, Plastics & Hand Therapy.

In Private Care I was independently responsible for the management of patients. I worked within a broad array of disciplines including Oncology, Neurology, Health of the Older Person, Orthopedics’ & Respiratory Health. This role included close interdisciplinary work involving the medical team, nursing staff, discharge coordinators, speech & language, occupational therapists and the support of other members of the physiotherapy team. Responsibilities included: Report & referral writing for appropriate ongoing care or Discharge, ward management, patient assessment and treatment.

Within Hand Therapy, I led an outpatient’s group where I provided education and devised progressive strength and functional exercises that were tailored to the patient. I also utilised therapeutic modalities such as Ultrasound, thermotherapy, and scar massage to improve patient outcomes. For postoperative Plastics ward patients, I based triage decisions on clinical reasoning and excellent communication with all other involved disciplines. I assisted in patient rehabilitation: improving mobility and enabling a full and considered recovery pathway. Physiotherapist: Whittington Health Trust, London 01/2012-04-2012

A temporary role as a ward based inpatient band 5 physiotherapist working in Care of the Older Person & Neurology.

I was responsible for the assessment of acute patients and management of a complex population in a busy multidisciplinary run ward. I worked in close alliance with all involved disciplines for the appropriate and effective treatment of patients with co-morbidities and complex social requirements. I sought out additional support where required. My work included the short and longer-term rehabilitation of patients with neurological, medical and respiratory requirements.

Providing guidance for effective stretching and safe use of equipment. Teaching relaxation and effective breathing, working with vulnerable patients using positive communication and support.

London Olympians Football Team 2011-2012 Roles and Responsibilities Providing pitch-side assessment of acute injury during the season plus manual treatments and sports taping. Teaching appropriate exercises for conditioning and repair of soft tissue injury.
