I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003.  
I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003.  My interets in evidence based practie and health education (in it's broadest sense) have led me to complete an MSc and becoming a lecturer in Physiotherapy. My clinical background and interets are in long term condition managment (espeically pain management), functional rehabilitation and occupational health and wellbeing. 
I initially followed a traditional career pathway, completing junior rotations in a large district hospital, followed by a senior II static outpatient post in musculoskeletal outpatients. While in this post I was fortunate to secure some experience working in a government initiative supporting people with long term health conditions to return to the a vocation. This have me a taste for occupational health and set down the road seeking OH experience.  Throughout my motivation for learning and development has persisted and I have continued to undertake formal and informal study - including MSc pain Science and Management -  and taken on various learning and development roles and responsibilities both in and outside of my employment.  


I have worked in OH in a variety of settings holding clinical, delivery and personnel responsibilities for a range of services including manual handling training, health and wellbeing education for staff, telephone advice lines, complex and functional rehabilitation programs and direct access onsite services.

To further my skills and knowledge in learning, development and research I moved out of clinical practice and OH into a role at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, and on again to my current post as a Physiotherapy lecturer.

This gave me a taste for occupational health (OH) and sent me down the road seeking OH experience.
 
I have worked in OH in various contexts holding clinical, delivery and personnel responsibilities for a range of services including manual handling training, health and well being education, telephone advice lines, complex and functional rehabilitation programs and direct access onsite services. During this time I also accrued experience in service design, evaluation and delivery.
 
Throughout my career motivation for learning and evidence based practice has persisted and I have continued to undertake formal and informal study, tackling any learning and development roles/responsibilities that crossed my path. So, to further my skills and knowledge in learning and research I moved out of clinical practice into a role at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) supporting members undertake CPD , and on again to my current post as a Physiotherapy lecturer.
 
In my current role I am passionate about promoting the value Physiotherapy can add to patient pathways in health and social care (to anyone that will listen), and instilling evidence-based biophycosocial values, beliefs and behaviours in all the health professional learners I meet. I endeavour to celebrate and undertake collaborative learning whenever possible (hence my presence in Physiopedia) and my developing interest in the use of social media in higher education and patent education (especially in the field of long term conditions and pain management).
