Ann Gates has worked as a health care professional for over 30 years. She is on a mission to get every patient accessing and enjoying exercise! Ann describes herself as a philanthropist, pharmacist, exercise advocate, author, speaker, social media "passionista", and as a disruptive innovator!

Current partnership work includes: The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, Public Health England, and Nottingham University School of Medicine and Health Science. She has also worked with Dr Mike Evans of 23 1/2 hours fame!

Teaching committments cover: undergraduate (both The University of Nottingham, Department of Physiotherapy and Glasgow Medical School), guest lecturer MSc Physiotherapy courses, and masterclasses on exercise medicine and "A Movement for Global Movement."

Ann is a published author with Higher Education & Medical McGraw-Hill Australia & New Zealand, with her exercise sheets becoming available online and digitally in December 2012. These "patient exercise sheets" are now available solely under licence via Exercise Works! Ltd. Sample "patient exercise sheets" can be seen here.

She is an Associate Editor and a regular contributor to the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM). Her BJSM editorials about "training tomorrow's doctors, in exercise medicine, for tomorrow's patients" and "making every contact count for physical activity: the launch of the undergraduate, interdisciplinary, resources on exercise medicine and health, in the UK" are both articles ranked in the top 5% of all articles tracked by Altmetric, and in the top 10 BJSM articles.

She is also a passionate champion advocate for the World Heart Federation and part of their emerging leaders programme for 2014.
