Rachael established the Physiopedia project in 2008 with the ambitious goal of providing free and open access to all physiotherapy knowledge to improve global health.

Fascinated by the opportunities presented by the then new Internet and how this could be used to support teaching and education, Tony became an e-learning developer at the University of Leeds where he worked in a variety of subjects. 
With a background in engineering and education Tony became fascinated by the opportunities presented by the then new Internet and how this could be used to support teaching and education.  Following a time working as a learning technologist at the University of Leeds he established Webducate and it was at a related conference he introduced Rachael to this exciting and rapidly expanding world of Web 2.0.

As an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of the Western Cape, he conducts research into the use of emerging technologies to change teaching and learning practices in undergraduate physiotherapy education.
His PhD evaluated the use of technology-mediated practices in clinical education, and resulted in the development of a set of design principles for creating blended learning environments.
Michael publishes and presents his research at national and international conferences in both clinical and mainstream education.
