Review Questions
1. Date of Review: 25/03/15
2. Physiopedia Page Title: Ultrasound in wound healing.
3. In a sentence please outline your general impression of this article:My general impressions of this article are that it is a great foundation that has been laid but there is room for improvement like there is with anything.
4. What are the strengths of this article? Important detail on the use of ultrasound in wound healing with use of infographics to detail the phases of the healing cycle.
5. What areas of this article could be improved? Most possibly the evidence section of the article. The studies that have been cited that support the use of ultrasound in wound healing have been limited to the lower limbs and in particular the tissue healing of ulcers and pressure sores. There is room for more expansive evidence than there is at present.
6. Is the content on the page comprehensive and appropriately structured? Yes, the page has been structured in line with the templates provided by Physiopedia but has been appropriately modified to reflect the needs of the content submitted.
7. Is the page written in an appropriate style for practicing clinicians? Yes it is, particularly the section which describes how the ultrasound machine must be set before beginning the procedure in relation to the size of a wound and depth of a wound.
8. Are the key points made on the page referenced correctly? References have been made in the key areas, however
9. Are all the appropriate issues and arguments included in the page? From my experience of Ultrasound everything has been appropriately covered so far in relation to the theory and methodology and it has been appropriately linked to the more generic page on the theory and benefits of ultrasound in general.
10. Are any key and recent pieces of research missing from the page? As I have previously mentioned it would be better if there were more expansive pieces of research provided in the bibliography.
11. Did you find any errors in the content? (Please review the article for accuracy and correct any factual errors as well as any misleading or inaccurate content. You do not need to correct grammatical and spelling errors.) There was Wiki code dropped in the final paragraph which I have since removed as it was obviously an unintentional error but could have been avoided by doing some post-edit proof reading. After reading through the article the grammar and spelling it appears there were no errors when creating this article.
12. Are there any topics that are not included in the article/topic that you would like to see? No.
13. Are there any topics that you feel should be covered in greater or less detail? I feel it would be beneficial for the articles content for there to be more reference to and more information on the use and theory of general ultrasound without having to refer to other/additional pages in Physiopedia meaning a more fluid reading experience.
14. Did you feel the content was current? If not, how could it be more up-to-date? The information provided was up to date with the majority of it having been published in the last 5-10 years.
15. Finally, would you use this article in your teaching or clinical work? Please state the reasons why or why not? I would consider using this article in my clinical work if the information was more expansive and gave a more fluid reading experience by reminding the reader on the benefits and theory of Ultrasound and how it works.
16. Please record your suggestions to improve the page below:

  1. More information/studies on the use of ultrasound in wound healing outside of the lower limb, ulcers and pressure sores.
  2. Provide more information on the theory of Ultrasound without having to refer to additional pages on Physiopedia.
  3. Provide a more exhaustive contraindications list.
