- Founded by Stephen M. Haley PT, Ph,D, Wendy J. Coster PhD, OTR/L, Larry H. Ludlow PhD, Jane Haltiwanger PhD, Peter Andrellos PhD, 1992
- First pediatric assessment tool to assess function rather than development
- Based on an adaptation of the conceptual hierarchy of outcomes defined by the ICIDH, in 1990
- Has multiple variations which are translated into multiple languages and validated for multiple cultures
