Temporary License Requirements/Availability

Temporary licensing for a Physical Therapist is permitted in the state of Alabama. Upon payment to the board of a set fee and a written application provided by the board, the applicant shall be issued a temporary license without examination. The time frame can not exceed past one year and applications are only accepted from new graduates whom have not taken the boards exam.

Requirements for License

In order to sit for the boards examination, a written application, provided by the board, must be filed. The applicant must present evidence to the board that he or she is of good moral character and has completed an accredited Physical Therapy School recognized nationally. Each applicant must also be a member of the United States or a non-citizen of the United States who is legally present with appropriate documentation from the federal government. Concerning the boards,the examination shall test the applicants knowledge of the basic and clinical sciences related to Physical Therapy. A practical exam may be required at the discretion of the board when an applicant is retaking a written exam after previously failing.
