I am a qualified physiotherapist from Ireland. I qualified in 2012, after previously obtaining a degree in Physiology before entering Physiotherapy. During my Physiotherapy degree I obtained a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certificate from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and was awarded a Foundation Scholarship to Trinity College Dublin. Upon qualifying, I started to work in the neuromusculoskeletal areas of physiotherapy. I originally worked with rugby teams and with a newly formed Parkinson's charity to develop 'prehab' and rehab programs, respectively. I then emigrated to Canada later that year where I obtained my registration for Physiotherapy practice in Ontario.
I focused my area of expertise towards sport and orthopaedic injuries and treating motor vehicle accident patients, in private practice clinics. During this time I decide to expand my role as a physiotherapy beyond the clinic and became both an examiner for the National Physiotherapy Competency practical exams, and also a mentor for newly registered physiotherapists. As I saw the rewards of developing myself as a physiotherapist outside of the clinic I decide to join the Physiopedia team as a peer reviewer. This has allowed me to simultaneously learn from my peers, as well as being able to make a contribution back to our profession.
