About Me
[edit | edit source]

In the past seven years, I can say that I have gained a lot of experience. I have been to the two of the most promising industries in our country today: healthcare and business process outsourcing (BPO).

After obtaining my professional license last 2005, I immediately joined the physical therapy bandwagon as a volunteer PT (trainee) at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, Quezon City, Philippines. With my four months stay with the facility, I was able to gather a more in-depth understanding in handling as well as designing treatment protocols to common conditions involving the human body’s musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. Majority of the cases that I handled were sports-related injuries such as fractures, post-operative procedures (e.g. ACL reconstructions), subluxations, strains, sprains, tendinitis to name a few. I was able to also experience, first hand, using modern technology modalities such as interferential currents (IFCs), combo TENS and US in one unit, hydrotherapy and whirlpool units as these are only offered by large tertiary hospitals in the country. Muscle taping and manual manipulation techniques were also given emphasis during my stay with SLMC.

On my fifth month with the work force, I decided to join the BPO sector. This gave me more exposure in terms of dealing with different personality types as well as the pressure of the business world. I was promoted as a trainer two years after I started. I handled training of newly hired employees on the products and services our client provided to the market. I worked closely with our partners in establishing new processes, modifying existing protocols as well as designing and revamping training materials. I was sent to the United States as well to handle implementation projects and to train management leaders, trainers, supervisors as well as frontline employees. I was tasked, as well, as a representative of our training department in events where our training head is out of town or on leave.

At present, I am concentrating on my physical therapy career as a volunteer to some small scale mall-based clinics around the metro. Also, I am a volunteer contributor to Physiopedia, an online resource to physical therapist around the world.
