About Me
[edit | edit source]

I am originally from Houston, Texas but graduated high school and college in Kansas. I became a direct commission into the US Army-Baylor Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy as a Medical Specialist Corp Officer in 2006.  Upon completion of the Army-Baylor physical therapy program in Spring of 2009, I was assigned to FT Hood, TX. For my first duty assignment I served as a staff physical therapist at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center.  I served as an attached Physical Therapist for 3d Armour Calvary Regiment (3d ACR) at COS Kalsu, Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn from Aug 2010-Aug 2011. Following redeployment, I became the first permanently assigned physical therapist to 3d ACR as it transitioned to a Stryker Brigade and started 3d CR’s first physical therapy clinic. I served as the Officer in Charge of the Amputee Physical Therapy Service for the Military Advanced Training Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. I now serve as the Assistant Chief of the Department of Physical Therapy at Walter Reed.

My military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Army Superior Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster. I have additional certifications as a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, American Red Cross Emergency Responder, Certified Wellness Coach, Level 1 and 2 Dry Needling Certified, and Functional Movement Screen Certified.

I in Virginia with my husband, 3 year old son, and 1 year old daughter. When I have free time it is spent playing with their children, running the occasional road race, reading and going on sight-seeing adventures.
