About Me After graduating in 1983, I worked tirelessly in my formative years to become the best clinician I could and to provide the best patient centred physiotherapy care I could. Although I worked in several adult services, across multiple locations and clinical areas, I fairly quickly gravitated towards paediatrics as my chosen field of expertise. In this clinical area, I have worked in both chronic and acute care, in hospitals, education department and community settings, both public and private. After commencing at Royal Children's Hospital (RCH), Brisbane, Australia in 1988, initially as a rotational clinician, I worked my way to one of two paediatric Senior Physiotherapist positions at RCH. In 2006, I was privileged and honoured to be appointed to the position of Director Physiotherapy RCH, responsible for managing and directing a dynamic and wonderful team of 19 physiotherapists and three physiotherapy assistants in the only public paediatric hospital in Queensland. I also became the professional lead for all paediatric physiotherapists in the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service, encompassing the Queensland Paediatric Rehabilitation Service and the Community Child Health Service across Brisbane. In November 2014, the public Royal Children's and private Mater Children's Hospitals were combined to form the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, and Children's Health Queensland's services were expanded statewide. In preparation for this enormous change, I was appointed to Director Physiotherapy, Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service in May 2014. I retired from this position in July 2016, having achieved the successful transition to a new and vibrant paediatric physiotherapy service of over 70 physiotherapists across acute, rehabilitation and community child development settings. During my 10 years as Director of Physiotherapy, I have been committed to: • facilitating the discipline and implementation of family centred care management across all paediatric clinical areas • embedding of evidence based practice into the ethos and culture of the service • the development of rigorous clinical I am currently taking a break from work as I manage a few health issues, including breast cancer, but do not consider this the end of my physiotherapy career. My greatest pleasure is to know that I can contribute Education I graduated from The University of Queensland, Australia, in early 1982 with a Bachelor Physiotherapy. I then undertook an honours year, completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) in early 1983. I commenced a Master of Physiotherapy (Paediatrics) course in 2006 but to date have not completed this due to competing work requirements.
