About Me[edit | edit source]

I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where I graduated from Dalhousie University with a Physiotherapy Degree and some years later a Master in Health Services Administration. As a relatively new physiotherapist, I travelled to the WCPT Congress in Israel in 1978 and was captivated by the atmosphere of the congress and energised by the potential of international exchange. The support of fabulous mentors in Canada led to my membership on the International Affairs Committee of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and to the role of CPA delegate to the WCPT General Meeting in 1987.  Later in 1987 I became the Executive Director of the CPA and was in that position until 1995 when I was appointed Secretary General of WCPT and moved to London UK.  In March 2016 I left WCPT after 21 wonderful years of working on behalf of the profession and meeting colleagues around the world.  My passion for international engagement and the benefits of international professional exchange has not diminished over the years and I still vividly remember that first experience in 1978.

It is a privilege to now have the time to explore areas of personal interest and to contribute to the physical therapy profession in a different way.  Physiopedia brings individual physical therapists around the world closer together by supporting the exchange of knowledge and ideas and adding value to the work of national associations and WCPT. I’m looking forward to supporting that work.
