Shannon M. Bravo Petersen, PT, DScPT, OCS, FAAOMPT Dr. Petersen is an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Thearpy Program at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa where she teaches patient management for spinal conditions, evidence-based practice, and manual therapy. In addition, Dr. Petersen has taught multiple continuing education courses for physical therapists on the topic of manual therapy for the spine and extremities. She received her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA; Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI; and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from Regis University in Denver, CO.
Dr. Petersen's research interests are in the areas of manual therapy of the spine and extremities, and application of clinical guidelines. Her most recent publications are related to manual therapy for patients with neck pain and low back pain.
