About Me[edit | edit source]

In August 2014, I gained my professional degree in physiotherapy from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria.

My journey as a clinician commenced with a one year internship program at the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto, Nigeria between 2015 and 2016, Afterwards I went ahead to complete another one year National Youth Service Program, this I did at the Noma Children Hospital Sokoto. This particular period exposed me to the role of the physiotherapist in the management of Cancrum Oris (Noma disease) and its sequalae Trismus and because the hospital had a collaboration with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) i had the opportunity to work alongside professionals from different parts of the world. Not only did i learn clinical skills i was also exposed to community based health practice as my job required me to travel to the hinterlands in the bid of following up patient's progress and ensuring that the gains achieved the period of hospital stay was sustained. After the one year service period, I was hired by MSF for another three months and from time to time i get called to assist in patient care as the need arises. Currently i work for the Sokoto State government at the Orthopaedic Hospital Wamakko as the lead physiotherapist in managing trauma related musculoskeletal disorders such as fractures, dislocations etc. Recently, because of the high incidence of complications arising from poor management of these trauma related musculoskeletal disorders by Traditional Bone Setters (TBS) within and around Sokoto State, in collaboration with the hospital management, i have commenced a sensitization campaign program named "Save The Limb" with the aim of discouraging trauma victims and their relatives from seeking treatment care from TBS, i hope to collaborate with the government, NGOs and private individuals to ensure that more people are able to access healthcare in the event of trauma at little or no cost since it has been established that poverty is the cause of the increased patronage of TBS.

As a physiotherapist, Physiopedia has remained a reliable resource in my clinical practice and since i am personally passionate about growth and upward development seeking out ways to help and improve the quality of lives of my patients, i see my being on the physiopedia team a great opportunity to achieve my career goals and in turn give back to the pofession to the best of my ability.
