About Me[edit | edit source]

I'm a Rwandan Physiotherapist and hold a Masters of Science (MSc) Degree in Physiotherapy, obtained from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa in 2010. I worked in different hospital settings where I came across different disorders and injuries but particularly enjoyed not only the management of pediatric disorders and musculoskeletal injuries but also raising awareness of physical activity and health promotion benefits among patients and hospital staff. I also believe that giving back to the community through outreach activities is the best way to empower people, specifically people with disabilities but also the poor in general. My last job in Rwanda was at the Rwanda Military Hospital where I worked for 4 years and during my last year, I was the Head of the Physiotherapy Department.

Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to attend different international scientific conferences and congresses among which the WCPT congress in Africa (Nairobi, 2012) as well as in Asia (Singapore, 2015). I had a paper presentation for both of them and it was a lifetime experience one could ever wish for! I have been fortunate enough to work with great physiotherapists and mentors, which led me to co-write two published articles with them.

Although I haven't been able to find a job in Dubai, I make sure I upgrade my knowledge by taking different courses and attending different conferences such as the Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference.

This volunteer orientation course is a great opportunity for me to challenge myself by developing and mastering writing medical content skills as well as gaining the confidence that will help me in the new orientation that I want to take as a Non- Clinical Physiotherapist.
