About Me
[edit | edit source]

Christina finished her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto in 2007 before continuing into her Masters of Physiotherapy at McMaster University, graduating in 2013. She is currently a treating therapist at Element CrossFit/ Element Therapy + where she uses largely exercise-based rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries. She has also worked within a OHIP model of care in a private practice. In both settings, she is a believer in the strength of exercise for rehabilitation, especially in an older demographic. Her interest in this lead her to begin her PhD part time in 2015. Her project is related to strength training principles for healthy aging and longevity.

Christina took her CrossFit Level I in April of 2012. Feeling she needed to learn more about exercise prescription, she obtained Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) accreditation through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). She interned at McMaster University in Strength and Conditioning with women’s rugby. She was a field therapist with the medical team for the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, Ontario Canada where she helped with the athletes in the football tournament. She has worked with kids with a variety of skill levels for sports specific training including hockey, tennis, rowing and swimming as well as rhythmic gymnastics with the Special Olympics
