Welcome to the Volunteer Orientation course! We are looking forward to introducing you to Physiopedia and welcoming you to the team.
These pre-course activities must be completed before the course starts, this will confirm your place on the course.

Course Information[edit | edit source]
Please make sure that you have thoroughly read through the course information page as this will give you an understanding of the context of this course and what is expected of you during your participation in this course.
Read the Physiopedia Community Culture[edit | edit source]
We are a team at Physiopedia, all working towards a common goal. Please have a read of Community Culture. This community culture has been developed to foster a professional community among Physiopedia users. It is our shared set of beliefs, expectations, and values that influence content development and the ways in which individuals in our community interact with one another and collaborate to achieve common objectives.
Sign the Volunteer Agreement[edit | edit source]
Any physiotherapist or physical therapist can contribute to the editing of the Physiopedia website by simply signing up for an account. As an official volunteer, you will be expected to be more committed to the project than a regular Physiopedia Editor. We expect regular communications and monthly commitments to the development of the project. By signing our volunteer agreement we know that you have made an informed decision to contribute to the Physiopedia project and in return, we will be your committed, teacher, colleague and mentor.
Sign up for a Physiopedia Account[edit | edit source]
For this course you will need an account to edit Physiopedia. If you don't have an account you can get one here. Once you have requested your account you will receive an email that will contain a link to confirm your email address. Please click on this link! We will then be alerted to activate your account which is a manual process so it may take a couple of days. Once your account is activated you will be sent your login details and a link to your user profile by email.
Sign up for Slack[edit | edit source]
Once you have signed the volunteer agreement, you will receive an invite by email to Slack (this is a manual process and may take a few days!). Be sure to check your email, accept the invitation and get Slack setup on your computer.
Slack is the chatting platform that the team uses at Physiopedia and is where the discussions will take place each week in the course. We will be using a specific team set up in Slack for the purposes of this course. Once you graduate from this course you will transition to the live team!

Introduce Yourself[edit | edit source]
Once you have got yourself all set up with Slack go to the #general channel and introduce yourself. Say "Hi" to your fellow volunteers! Tell us where you live, where you work or study, how much experience you have and what you hope to get out of this course.
