HIT-6 was developed to assess the impact of headaches on a patient's daily life. It covers 6 items questioning the frequency of the things below;
- severe pain,
- pain-related functional limitation, the feeling of urge to lie down, feeling too tired to do work or daily activities, the feeling of irritation and concentration difficulty on work/daily activities.[1] [2]

People with migraine or other severe headaches. [1]
Method of Use[edit | edit source]
It is a self-report measure that the form is given to the patient to fill out. The 5 responses in each item (never, rarely, sometimes, very often, or always) have a numerical value (6, 8, 10, 11, and 13, respectively). A higher score in the possible 36-78 score range indicates a higher impact. [2]

Reliability[edit | edit source]
It was found reliable for patients with chronic migraine in a study with data from the PROMISE-2 (The Prevention Of Migraine via Intravenous ALD403 Safety and Efficacy‒2) study. [3]
Validity[edit | edit source]
The use of HIT-6 in clinical migraine practice and research is supported since its items were found relevant. [2][3]
