Welcome to the EIM Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship Project. This project was created by and for the students of Evidence in Motion, and is part of the Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship.

Objectives[edit | edit source]
The expectation for these projects is that they are extensive and a comprehensive review of all available literature on this topic. They should be highly referenced. They should be written at the level and profiency of a clinician at the fellowship level.
Instructions[edit | edit source]
Fellows will be divided into 5 groups of 2-3 people to work together. You will choose from one of the five topics to work on.
- Mobilization Grades
Graded mobilization. Discuss the different grades and constructs they represent. Define the different grading systems that are used. Describe progression through the grades. - SINSS
Describe each of the elements of the SINSS. Provide references to articles that use this approach. Any case studies that support its use? Provide several case examples that illustrates each of the concepts in SINSS. - Spine Segmental Assessment
Reliability and validity of the segmental palpation of the spine. This will include cervical and lumbar spine and look at diagnostic validity properties for reproduction of stiffness, mobility, and pain. Provide summaries of articles that support or refute the use of segmental palpation. Create this page as a succinct and highly referenced position statement on the use of segmental palpation of the spine. - Subjective Exam - Diagnostic Strength
Evidence for the subjective exam. What evidence do we have the strength of the history in our examination? What information can we glean from it? How important is it in providing effective treatment? - Visual & Palpatory Alignment Assessment
Reliability and validity of the visual and palpatory alignment examination. This will include diagnostic properties for visual alignment tests of the lumbar spine, pelvis, leg-lengths, etc. What should be used; what should be avoided; what do the findings tell us and how do they guide our decision making.
